The Erft cycle path - cycling from the Eifel to the Rhine

Just a few kilometers from the hotel, NRW cycling holidaymakers will come across the Erft Cycle Path - one of the most varied routes in our region. For over 100 kilometers, you follow the Erft from its source in the Eifel to where it flows into the Rhine near Neuss, cycling for around nine to ten hours.

Thanks to the mostly flat route, the Erft Cycle Path is ideal for beginners who are looking for a longer day tour with added cultural value on their cycling vacation in NRW.

The route begins at the source of the Rur in the High Fens in Belgium and ends near Roermond in the Netherlands. A special section leads through the Rhenish mining district, where the transformation from open-cast mine to natural area can be experienced in a particularly impressive way - a theme that can also be felt every day around our hotel.

In between are natural wonders, historic towns and lots of variety, making the tour ideal for enduring cyclists who want to take in numerous impressions along the way.

:terra nova speedway circuit - cycling with a view

Where lignite was once mined, one of the most impressive cycle routes near Cologne now runs: the Speedway :terra nova. The five-metre-wide asphalt path on a former conveyor belt route offers a unique perspective on the transformation of the Rhenish mining area.

This 32 km circular tour through the heart of the former open-cast lignite mine starts not far from the Landhotel. The two-hour ride with views of huge bucket-wheel excavators is ideal for technology enthusiasts, families and anyone who wants to pedal hard.
